Thanks to the generous gift from the estate of Baruch alumnus Paul H. Chook (‘49), our department (formerly known as Statistics and CIS) has been endowed and named the Paul H. Chook Department of Information Systems and Statistics. Throughout his successful career of over 40 years in the media and publishing industries, Paul H. Chook served many executive roles including Executive Vice President of Ziff-David Publishing and Vice President of Young & Rubicam. Additionally, he taught courses in statistical models and analysis as an adjunct professor for 12 years at what was then The Bernard M. Baruch School of Business and Public Finance. Paul H. Chook passed away in May 2014 and is remembered as an esteemed professional in the media industry and a distinguished member of the Zicklin community.
This gift will allow us to continue building on the work we have been doing both in providing valuable classes to our students and in producing world-class research in our fields. Our department has 36 full-time professors and more than 50 part-time instructors. We offer two undergraduate majors with three specialized tracks, six minors, three MS programs with specialized tracks, several tracks in the newly redesigned Zicklin MBA program, and a PhD in Information Systems program. Our faculty members are globally recognized researchers and publish in top journals in Information Systems, Statistics, and Operations Research.
